Frequently asked questions

1) What options are available for food at your site?

We have a kitchen down at the reception/campground that has a commercial convection oven, two griddles, two large bbq's with side burners, a sink, two fridges, pots, and an assortment of chaffing dishes, salad bowls, ect.

2) Can we bring our own caterer?

Yes, you can bring your own caterer or just get the family together and do your own food.

3) What kitchen facilities are available for the caterer?

The caterer is welcome to use the kitchen which is included in the wedding package.

4) Are there any caterers you recommend?

Yes, there are a number of local companies that do a great job, just ask for a list.

6) What is the set-up for camping?

Our property is 21 acres, so lots of room for RV's and tents. We do not have hook ups, but we do have running water, electricity and one outdoor shower. Guests can camp in the main area or go into the trees if they want privacy. Rv's can be rented at Island Rv 250-756-1626 for the weekend and are delivered, set up and picked up for about $200. per unit. The units are new, clean and sleep 6 or more.

7) Are there nearby hotels, B&Bs for guests not wishing to camp?

If you go to www.staycowichan.com (The association I belong to) you will find beautiful B&B's that are close by. The local hotels are The Cowichan Valley Inn 250-748-2722 and The Travelodge Silver Bridge 250-748-4311

8) Is there a quiet hour?

At 11:00 we ask that the amplified music is turned down and at 12:00 it is turned off. You are welcome to switch to a non-amplified system at this time such as an ipod dock or computer. You can also have a band, and they can play until 11:00

9) Can the sound system be used for the reception and dance or do we need to hire someone with a professional sound system?

We can move the microphone and speakers down to the reception hall for speeches. Our system is not available for music at this time.

I do have a system that can be used for the ceremony music which I can operate if you provide your music on a CD.

You can hire a DJ for about $500. I have some that I can recommend, or alot of people just use a computer or Ipod and make their own playlists in advance.

10) Do we need to rent plates, cutlery, glasses?
Special Occasions Party Rentals are very reasonable for these items. For example, 100 plates are only $35. and they drop off, pick up and wash them for this price. They can be reached at 250-746-7611.

We do have an impressive list of items here at Maple Grove that are available for use during your wedding for no extra cost. Please ask for an updated list.
